Caring for your new strawberry plants

The first fruit of SUMMER!  The key to healthy strawberry plants, keep them clean and watered.  While I am not an expert in this area yet, I have learned that picking off any yucky looking berries and leaves, keeps disease out of your field.  Also, make sure they have plenty of water while they bloom and set fruit.  An even flow of water and nutrients will help your fruit be consistent.  If possible use irrigation tape to keep the water off the leaves and plant.   I hope to share more about this topic as I learn more each year!
