Caring for Your New Strawberry Plants

The first fruit of SUMMER! The key to healthy strawberry plants, is to keep them clean and watered. Although I am not an expert in the area of disease control yet, I have learned by experience that picking off any yucky looking berries and leaves helps to keep disease and pests out of your field. Also, make sure they have plenty of water while they bloom and set fruit. An even flow of water and nutrients will help your fruit be consistent. Too much or too little water can cause issues. If possible, use irrigation tape to keep the water off the leaves and plant to reduce disease and rot. I plan to share more about this topic as I learn more each year, so please check back soon.
